Go Green Granville Fund
GREEN POWER FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
2025 Solar Grants
Go Green Granville, in partnership with the Granville Community Foundation, created the Go Green Granville Fund—a new grant program to support sustainability initiatives in our community. Initial grant funds will be dedicated to helping schools, civic organizations and nonprofits in the Granville area install on-site (roof-mounted or ground-mounted) solar electric systems.
The Go Green Granville 2025 Solar Fund will provide up to $50,000 in grants, plus technical support from Go Green Granville solar experts, to support the installation of solar panels on properties where schools, civic groups and nonprofits operate. The goal is to help local organizations reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reduce longterm energy costs and take meaningful action against climate change.
Go Green Granville Fund grants will cover up to 50% of the initial installation costs for a solar electric system. The grant, combined with federal financial incentives covering 30% of costs, will make on-site solar power an easy and economically sound investment for nonprofit organizations.
2025 Eligibility
This program is open to Granville-area civic groups, nonprofit organizations and schools with properties suitable for on-site solar panel installation. Applicants must own the property or have a long-term lease agreement to qualify.
Why Apply?
Save on energy costs: The Go Green Granville grant, combined with federal financial incentives for solar can result in significant long-term savings by reducing electricity expenses for decades to come.
Amplify your impact: Our community's highly-rated schools and the many vibrant civic groups, museums and nonprofit organizations are an integral part of what makes Granville a wonderful place to live, work, play, and visit. By transitioning to solar power, these organizations can deepen their impact and direct their limited resources toward their missions rather than rising fossil fuel energy costs.
Be a sustainability leader: Showcase your commitment to a cleaner, greener future for our community and inspire others to follow suit.
"Solar has long been a smart investment strategy. This grant makes it even more of a no-brainer for nonprofits."

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
Our building does not have a south-facing roof. Don't you need that to install solar panels?
Not necessarily. East- and West-facing roofs can also be effective and you will be still be able to produce power, just perhaps not as much as a South-facing roof. Plus, solar panels can be installed on other parts of the property or positioned in a way to maximize energy production. Go Green Granville solar experts can provide an initial consult to assess your production potential. Be sure to complete an initial inquiry form above to start the process.
Isn't solar super expensive? Even with a grant to cover 50% of the cost, will our organization be able to afford the upfront costs?
While the initial investment in a solar electric system can seem significant, the Go Green Granville Solar Fund makes it much more affordable by covering up to 50% of the initial costs. Additionally, our Go Green Granville solar experts will help grantees request, review and evaluate bids from solar installers and help your organization take advantage of federal tax credits and other financial incentives can further reduce your out-of-pocket expenses.
The long-term benefits and cost savings can be substantial. Solar electric systems can dramatically lower your energy bills, allowing your organization to save thousands of dollars over their lifespan (often 25 years or more). Many organizations find that the combination of grants, tax credits, and energy savings makes solar a financially sound and mission-aligned investment.
We don't own our building. Can we still qualify for this grant?
Yes, civic and nonprofit organizations with long-term lease agreements may be eligible. The lease must grant permission for property modifications like solar installations.
What is the timeline for the grant? How long does the grant process take?
Initial Interest Forms and Application Forms for the Go Green Granville Solar Fund are available all year and can be submitted at any time and should take no more than a few minutes to complete. The Go Green Granville leadership team will review proposals on a rolling basis. Grant funding cycles in future years may require more defined application deadlines, but the initial round of funding in 2025 is structured to allow for maximum flexibility and the ability to fast-track funding in order to take advantage of federal financial incentives.
The timeline from initial inquiry to grant award will vary depending on the complexity of the project. Given the gravity of the climate crisis, we are committed to deploying grant funds as quickly and efficiently as possible.
